There Was a Little Girl Who Had a Little Curl…

Funny how certain circumstances bring people together.  I was on a photo prop hunt at local yard sales one Saturday morning with absolutely no luck.  However, the last stop was pay dirt!  A couch, a suitcase, and an old typewriter.  Photographer gold!!  Also, I met this lovely lady and her daughter.  We set up a session for the daughter’s little girl who was about to turn two.  WOW!  What a cutie!  I so loved her sparkle and her constant state of busy-ness.  I’m so glad I stumbled upon their wares that morning and had the opportunity to capture this pretty little girl and her pretty little curls. ❤

A Study in Scarlet

As most of you know, I have a wonderful friend, Mabel.  We’ve done a few sessions with her new baby, but this is the first formal shoot with her oldest.  She’s such a sweet girl and a great friend to my own daughter.  She is a real bookworm, so Books by the Sea was a perfect backdrop.  We happened to look over and see a copy of a Sherlock Holmes book, “A Study in Scarlet”.  Could it be more perfect??

Once Upon a Wedding…

The first wedding.  What a ride it has been.  This gracious, lovely couple were so sweet in spite of the camera breaking and having to rush some of the shots and lots of improvisation.  Thankfully dad saved the day by purchasing a camera for me to use, and to later pursue his own photog ambitions.  It was a very stressful lesson…ALWAYS have a backup!

However, in spite of it all, it was a very beautiful day with a gorgeous bride and a handsome groom.  Congratulations Nate and Alex!  I wish you happiness forever and always.

Once Upon a Prom…

Who is this little boy in the tuxedo?  He’s mine?  Really?  More importantly, who is this girl?

I’m sure I’m not the only mom whose heart aches when they see their babies being so grown up.  At the same time there is a contrasting joy at seeing him so happy that makes the ache surprisingly bearable.  In spite of the internal screaming voices to ‘stop growing up!’, there he is in grown up clothes with a beautiful girl who thinks he’s pretty awesome.

Funny, so do I.

New Classic

It seems like the older we get the more we find ourselves shaking our heads in despair at the younger generation and their choices in attire, music, style, etc.  But wait!  There’s hope!!  Believe it or not, there are a select few young people who choose to revel in the classic elegance of their forefathers (or mothers).

I’ve been wanting a session with this lovely young lady for quite some time.  I was SO excited to finally have the chance to get her in front of the camera, and I was definitely not disappointed!  She just has that “look”, and could easily stand in for Ms. Hepburn any day.  Thanks for the lovely day, Miss Korina, and for giving the old folks hope.

Simply beautiful.

Milestones

I guess it’s a rite of passage for all photographers, but the newborn shoot seems to be pretty standard fare on their upward spiral to the ultimate shoot….the wedding.  So here it is…the milestone.

This was a pretty intimidating experience; not an occasion one would want to screw up.  However, it would be near impossible to take a bad picture of this little beauty!  She was so easy going and alert for the “awake half” of the session, and slept like an angel for the “asleep half”.  It was really an honor to be trusted with this little one’s first official time in front of the camera.  Hopefully by the time she reaches the wedding milestone, I’ll be there, too.  Thanks to you, Marley.  Thanks to you.

Everyday Heroes

Yes, they are.  Aren’t all parents?  There is so much love wrapped up in these two for this precious little boy, it is nothing sort of heroic.  You can see how much he’s loved and how much he loves them in return.  Seems appropriate that they would be decked out in their favorite super hero gear.

There were so many wonderful shots from this session it took forever to finish editing, but it was worth every minute!  So here you go.  It’s the Mini-Man of Steel to the rescue!

Merry Christmas, Mr. Murphy

So who is this Mr. Murphy?  And why must his ridiculous law come into effect when it comes to a well-intentioned photo shoot??  This session was a long time coming!  After two postponements over three long weeks due to weather, we FINALLY got it done just in time for Christmas. 🙂  Take THAT, Mr. Murphy!

It was so nice to see a beautiful day shaping up, and a great opportunity to get to know a wonderful new family.  They were such good sports as we ran from one location to the next, racing the sun.  They were also game to try out the new photo props.  Pretty neat, huh?  Thanks so much to the Gagnon gang for making this very delayed session well worth the wait!

Bringing Sexy Pregnant Back

I am so in love with these pictures!  But here’s a confession…I used a setup that I saw on The Rachel Zoe Project that she used for her maternity shoot.  It was just so classy and different, and since Mabel and Jimmy qualify as “classy and different” I thought this scenario would suit them rather well; and as you can see, it totally does!  I was praying that we could get the same effect, and quite frankly I think they turned out better than Rachel’s.  (Please pause for tooting my own horn…toot! toot!)  Talk about sexy and pregnant (without being nearly naked)….wow!

A Girl and Her Guitar

I first met the lovely Miss Kristen on a trip to Tallahassee for FSU Film School auditions.  As my kids share similar aspirations, it was an easy fit.  Little did I know, there was more to this pretty young girl than met the eye.  She absolutely has the voice of an angel, and also writes her own music!  She is incredibly talented for such a young age.  I am truly impressed!  She’s also a natural in front of the camera.  It was SO hard to just pick a few for the blog, but here they are.  🙂

It’s hard to see where her hair ends and the curlies on the sea oats begin.

The second half of the shoot was in beautiful Apalachicola.  I would highly recommend spending a Saturday in this very pretty town.

Thank you Kristen (and mom) for a wonderful day!

Class of 2012

It’s a year that seems like it will NEVER come.  Senior year!  Finally!

I had such a wonderful time spending the afternoon with Miss Silvia and her mom.  We worked our way from Alys Beach back to the west end of PCB, trying to utilize all of the pretty places.   It was incredibly hot, but she was up for anything and never missed a beat even when asked to plop down in the sand and surf in her pretty blue dress.

I’m sure her senior year will be a memorable one.  Enjoy every moment, my dear.  There is no other time like this.

That is her kindergarten photo, and in the case is her grandmother’s rosary that she chose to include in the picture.  I thought it was a very nice touch.

If anyone is interested in their own senior portrait session, please message me at cyndii.davis@gmail.com.  Thanks!

A Sammy Disposition

People seem to randomly say, “That’s such a happy baby!”  Well,  THIS is the very definition of a happy baby.  He is so calm and pleasant and sweet, and truly has a sunny disposition.  For this shoot he changed clothes at least five times, it was very hot, and there were gnats everywhere.  Mommy and I complained…Sammy did not.  His smile was absolutely genuine from start to finish.  What a joy! 🙂  Also, it was his first day of sitting up by himself.  WOW!

Brace yourself, folks.  Here comes a whole lotta cute.

Can you stand it???

Dapper little man

Cutest dude in the universe 😉

Beautiful Selflessness

We met this lovely couple several years ago in our search for a good church youth program.  My son immediately took to Andrew and I was impressed as well with his dedication to the ministry and his longing to make the Word personal and accessible to the huddled, acne-ridden, identity-seeking, teenage masses.

He and his lovely wife were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, and as you can see, there is absolutely no shortage of cuteness!  They have recently been called away from our fair city to a new ministry, and we will miss them very much.  Thank you both for your beautiful selfless service, and may God bless you in your new home. 🙂

This face says it all!

Mommy love. ❤

The “walking-away-black-and-white” shot…it might be cliche, but it’s still pretty cute.

I love this one because you can almost see the heart in the picture (hint: her elbow is the bottom point).  Very sweet.
