What Christmas is All About

So excited about this session!  Meet the Kirchoff’s.  I’m happy to call them friends, and really proud to call them family!  They are all such beautiful people inside and out who live a life of service to their church and the community.  They give of themselves constantly, and isn’t that what Christmas is all about?  Much love for all of you!  Merry Christmas!!

The Story of Us

My family and I went to my mother’s house in beautiful North Georgia for Thanksgiving.  We finally got some family pictures, and I couldn’t be happier with them!  My family is truly my heart and soul and my reason for breathing, and looking at these absolutely makes me smile.us3us1aus2aus4

Country Girl

Trying to break into the country music scene is a hard job, but someone has to do it.  Meet Kristen, an aspiring country singer/songwriter.  She’s truly talented and beautiful.  She can work a camera like nobody’s business.  Remember her face, folks, you might see her in Nashville one day! Kristen_7Kristen_21Kristen_13Kristen_2Kristen_10

Just Another Lovely Day

And it truly was.  That perfect Florida fall afternoon.  The subjects were equally lovely.  The little miss was a cutie patootie!  So much energy and personality wrapped up in a precious little package.  Mom had that baby glow, and dad was just as proud and handsome as he could be!  It was such a lovely day with lovely people.  Thank you for letting me capture your family!

Welcome Fall

It’s official!  The first family fall session.  And what a gorgeous family!!  I can’t think of a better way to start the most lovely time of year than capturing these images.  These girls are such cutie pies.  How can you resist those pretty little faces???  Let’s not forget mom and dad…wow!  Such a good looking couple.  I’m so privileged to be able to be their photographer.  So here’s to them and here’s to fall.  Thank goodness it has come to visit us again.  We’ve missed you. 🙂

What Little Boys are Made Of

Check this handsome fella out!  We had a wonderful afternoon at Oaks by the Bay, and he really kept me on my toes.  With his trusted puppy, Scout, by his side, he covered every square inch of the park! 🙂  His mom was so sweet and charming, and we just enjoyed watching him be a boy!

Simply Beautiful

Meet Ashlea.  Talk about making my job easy!!  She would probably take offense if you ever called her a diva, but she would gladly offer you a ride in her jacked up Bronco.  There is not a pretentious bone in her body, and she is genuinely beautiful both inside and out.  I’m very proud to have her as the senior representative for Rutherford High School, and I can’t wait to do her full session in the spring!

First Time for Everything

Meet Tyler.  She is stepping up as my first ambassador for the new senior portrait experience.  Hopefully she will be the first of many.  I’ve known this lovely young lady for a very long time, and I love her dearly.  Seeing her face in my viewfinder makes me smile, and I hope it makes you smile, too. 🙂

Feelin’ Groovy

Any right brainers out there?  Ever had artist’s block?  Yep.  It’s been a slow summer, and admittedly it didn’t bother me too much.  Forget photographer’s block, it was more like photographer’s blah.  Senior portrait season is beginning, and I just wasn’t “feelin’ it.”  In an effort to jump start the creative juices, I commandeered the closest teenage victims I could find…my son and his girlfriend.  We literally ran downtown and got in just a few shots, and that was all it took!  Thank you, Austin and Blair, for helping me out more than you will ever know!  Talk about getting back in the groove!

Yes, I’m feelin’ pretty groovy.

There Was a Little Girl Who Had a Little Curl…

Funny how certain circumstances bring people together.  I was on a photo prop hunt at local yard sales one Saturday morning with absolutely no luck.  However, the last stop was pay dirt!  A couch, a suitcase, and an old typewriter.  Photographer gold!!  Also, I met this lovely lady and her daughter.  We set up a session for the daughter’s little girl who was about to turn two.  WOW!  What a cutie!  I so loved her sparkle and her constant state of busy-ness.  I’m so glad I stumbled upon their wares that morning and had the opportunity to capture this pretty little girl and her pretty little curls. ❤

Beachside Bliss

I received a phone call earlier this year from a young lady in Wyoming.  (Wyoming? Really???)  That’s a far cry from the Emerald Coast.  She was coming to Cape San Blas to be married in June, and had somehow found my little establishment on the internet.  The rest, as they say, is history.  It was a beautiful day with a beautiful bride and handsome groom.  Bliss!

A Study in Scarlet

As most of you know, I have a wonderful friend, Mabel.  We’ve done a few sessions with her new baby, but this is the first formal shoot with her oldest.  She’s such a sweet girl and a great friend to my own daughter.  She is a real bookworm, so Books by the Sea was a perfect backdrop.  We happened to look over and see a copy of a Sherlock Holmes book, “A Study in Scarlet”.  Could it be more perfect??

Once Upon a Wedding…

The first wedding.  What a ride it has been.  This gracious, lovely couple were so sweet in spite of the camera breaking and having to rush some of the shots and lots of improvisation.  Thankfully dad saved the day by purchasing a camera for me to use, and to later pursue his own photog ambitions.  It was a very stressful lesson…ALWAYS have a backup!

However, in spite of it all, it was a very beautiful day with a gorgeous bride and a handsome groom.  Congratulations Nate and Alex!  I wish you happiness forever and always.

This Girl

It’s almost over!  High school will soon be a distant memory, and for some, the “best years of their life.”  I’m sure the lovely Miss Riley is eager to have high school as just that.  Don’t be in such a hurry, my dear, these days are like no other.  One day you will look back and want to be this girl again.  Enjoy her while she’s here.  🙂

Once Upon a Prom…

Who is this little boy in the tuxedo?  He’s mine?  Really?  More importantly, who is this girl?

I’m sure I’m not the only mom whose heart aches when they see their babies being so grown up.  At the same time there is a contrasting joy at seeing him so happy that makes the ache surprisingly bearable.  In spite of the internal screaming voices to ‘stop growing up!’, there he is in grown up clothes with a beautiful girl who thinks he’s pretty awesome.

Funny, so do I.

Flying Time

This beautiful and talented Bay High senior is truly a special girl.  She is lovely inside and out.  More importantly, we’re related. 🙂  I’ve known her since she was a wee one.  It’s hard to believe she’s graduating!  With her trusty ukulele, Leila, by her side we set out downtown for a wonderful afternoon shoot.  I was so honored to be able to take her pictures, and it was a stark reminder of how time really does fly.

Thank Heaven…

Well, you know the rest. 🙂  This little girl was so very precious.  We took our time and had a couple of sessions to get everything just right.  I think I secretly just wanted to spend more time with her and her lovely mommy.  Thank you both for some wonderful “girl time”.

Self Portrait

Around the first of the year I was trolling around the usual photographer’s blogosphere, and the main topic seemed to be the self portrait.  There was even a 365 self portrait project. “It will improve your photography skills,” they all proclaimed.  Really?  All it did for me was make me nauseous at the thought.  The OTHER side of the camera???  Are you kidding???  I’d rather die.

So here it is March and I’ve finally mustered up the courage (or stifled the nausea) long enough to go through with it.  Yikes!  It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, but not as great either to be quite honest.  I would like to take another shot at it eventually, and I would proabably do things differently, so I guess you could call that learning.

Hey look!  It’s me!!!

Colorful

Here we are again with the beloved Sammy.  He has just turned one!  It’s hard to believe that our first session was six months ago.  He is still just as precious and sweet.  We went to the park in the middle of the day for the sunny, colorful backdrop.  To my very pleasant surprise, when I was editing this session there were some really stunning black and white pictures, too.  Who knew??  Either way, he’s still pretty colorful.

New Classic

It seems like the older we get the more we find ourselves shaking our heads in despair at the younger generation and their choices in attire, music, style, etc.  But wait!  There’s hope!!  Believe it or not, there are a select few young people who choose to revel in the classic elegance of their forefathers (or mothers).

I’ve been wanting a session with this lovely young lady for quite some time.  I was SO excited to finally have the chance to get her in front of the camera, and I was definitely not disappointed!  She just has that “look”, and could easily stand in for Ms. Hepburn any day.  Thanks for the lovely day, Miss Korina, and for giving the old folks hope.

Simply beautiful.

Oh, Sweet Little Man…

What can I say about this precious boy?  That’s it.  He’s just precious.  He’s got such a wonderful mommy and daddy it was pretty much inevitable, right?  We had a great day and just took our sweet time snuggling in between setups and shots.  He was such a good sport.  Poor little guy had quite a day.  It’s tough being a super model!

Milestones

I guess it’s a rite of passage for all photographers, but the newborn shoot seems to be pretty standard fare on their upward spiral to the ultimate shoot….the wedding.  So here it is…the milestone.

This was a pretty intimidating experience; not an occasion one would want to screw up.  However, it would be near impossible to take a bad picture of this little beauty!  She was so easy going and alert for the “awake half” of the session, and slept like an angel for the “asleep half”.  It was really an honor to be trusted with this little one’s first official time in front of the camera.  Hopefully by the time she reaches the wedding milestone, I’ll be there, too.  Thanks to you, Marley.  Thanks to you.

The First Day of the Rest of Your Life

Well, actually, this was the second day (because someone forgot the memory card on the first day…doink!).  Meet Ryan.  Isn’t he precious?  Since this wasn’t an “official” session I wasn’t planning on blogging about it, but just can’t keep it to myself!  We’ve been waiting for this gorgeous little man for what seems like forever.  He finally made his grand entrance, and this won’t be the last time you see this sweet face.  Hopefully he will be gracing this humble blog for years to come.  Welcome to the world! 🙂

Christmas Fun

Here’s the second lovely family I was able to hang out with last weekend for their Christmas session.  What a couple of cute little boys!  Mom and dad were so much fun, I’m sure there is never a dull moment in that household!  We had a great day playing in the yard and capturing all those beautiful candid moments.

This is the final Christmas session of the season.  MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE!
